Buying a part
What is Secure Auto Market?
A South African marketplace for new and pre-owned vehicle parts and accessories. Every part is listed and sold by an independent vendor (a private seller, scrapyard, stripper, dealer or workshop). We run the platform, the secure escrow payment facility and the PUDO locker delivery service so buying from a stranger is as safe as buying from a shop. We do not own, inspect or sell the parts ourselves.
How do I know a part will fit my vehicle?
Check the listing carefully: part numbers, engine code, year, model, trim and left- or right-hand fitment. If anything is unclear, use the Contact vendor option on the listing to ask before you buy. Fitment is your responsibility. A part that was correctly described but does not fit your car is not grounds for a return, so when in doubt, ask, or check with your mechanic first.
Are the parts new or used?
Unless a listing clearly says new, assume the part is pre-owned and has been removed from a vehicle. Everything is sold “as is”, in the condition shown in the photographs and described in the listing. Normal wear consistent with a used part is not a defect.
Can I make an offer on a part?
Some listings accept offers. An offer may not exceed a 30% discount on the listed price, covers a single unit, and excludes delivery and the Buyer Protection Fee. The vendor is free to accept, counter or decline.
Can I buy from more than one vendor in one order?
No. Each order is placed with a single vendor so that escrow, delivery and any claim relate to one seller. If you want parts from two vendors, place two orders.
Do you ship outside South Africa?
No. Secure Auto Market delivers within South Africa only.
Paying & escrow
How does the secure payment (escrow) work?
When you pay, your money goes to TradeSafe, an independent South African escrow provider, not to the vendor. The vendor only sees that the funds are secured and then ships the part. After delivery you have 24 hours to check the part. Once you confirm receipt (or the 24 hours pass without a claim), TradeSafe releases the money to the vendor. If the vendor never dispatches, or the part never arrives, you are refunded in full.
Which payment methods can I use?
Payment is made on TradeSafe’s secure payment page at the end of checkout. Options include EFT, card and SnapScan. The exact methods available are shown on that page.
What is the Buyer Protection Fee?
A flat R100 per order that funds the escrow service, the PUDO delivery booking and our support. It is shown as a separate line at checkout before you pay. Vendors are not charged commission, so their listed prices are not marked up to cover it.
Why is there an extra “processing fee” on TradeSafe’s page?
TradeSafe charges a small processing fee that depends on the payment method you choose (EFT is the cheapest, card and SnapScan cost more). It is displayed on the payment page before you confirm. This fee goes to TradeSafe, not to us, and where the payment provider does not return it on a refund, that portion is not refundable.
When exactly is the vendor paid?
Only after the part has been delivered and you have accepted it, or the 24-hour inspection window has passed without a claim. Never before.
Someone asked me to pay outside the platform. Is that OK?
No. Never pay a vendor directly by EFT, cash or any other method, and never accept a “refund” that is not processed through TradeSafe. Payments made outside the platform are not protected by escrow, and asking for them is a breach of our Terms. Please report it to support.
Delivery
What delivery options are there?
- PUDO Locker (collect near you): the cheapest option. At checkout you pick a PUDO locker close to you. The vendor drops the parcel at a locker on their side, The Courier Guy moves it to your locker, and you collect it with a PIN.
- Door delivery: the vendor drops the parcel at a locker and The Courier Guy delivers it to your address.
- Vendor-arranged delivery: for parts too large for a locker (rim sets, bonnets, engines). The vendor ships with their own courier and sets the fee, which you see at checkout.
How do I collect from a PUDO locker?
When your parcel is placed in your chosen locker, PUDO notifies you by SMS and/or e-mail with a collection PIN. Go to the locker, enter the PIN on the screen, and the door with your parcel opens. Please collect promptly: your 24-hour inspection window starts when the parcel is placed in the locker, and PUDO returns uncollected parcels after its holding period.
How long does delivery take?
Vendors must dispatch within 7 calendar days of your order, and most drop off within a day or two. Locker-to-locker transit with The Courier Guy is typically a few working days depending on the distance. You can follow every stage on your order.
How do I track my order?
Open My Account → Orders. For PUDO deliveries the order shows the waybill and the latest status, which we update automatically from The Courier Guy. For vendor-arranged deliveries the vendor enters the courier name and tracking number when they dispatch, and we e-mail it to you.
Who pays for delivery?
You do, at checkout. The fee is the live PUDO rate for the locker size the part needs, or the vendor’s stated fee for oversized parts. Vendors are never charged for a PUDO booking.
The vendor hasn’t shipped yet. What can I do?
First message the vendor from the order. If nothing has been dispatched within 7 calendar days of the order and no longer lead time was agreed, contact support with the order number and we may cancel the order and instruct TradeSafe to refund you in full.
Returns & refunds
What can I return?
A return is available before you accept the order, and only where the part delivered differs materially from the listing, for example: a different part from the one listed (wrong part number, side or model), a missing part or component, damage or a defect not visible in the photos and not disclosed, a part listed as new that is clearly used, or a counterfeit or prohibited item.
What is not a valid reason for a return?
The part does not fit or you ordered the wrong one when the listing was correct; you changed your mind or found it cheaper; wear consistent with a pre-owned part or visible in the photos; the part failed after fitting or was damaged during installation; the part has been fitted, altered, painted or disassembled; colour differences due to screens or lighting; slow delivery; or labour and workshop costs.
How do I raise a claim?
- Within 24 hours of delivery, use the dispute option in the TradeSafe delivery e-mail or on your order, and message the vendor through the platform.
- State clearly what is wrong and include photographs of the part, the packaging and, where relevant, the part number.
- You can also e-mail support@secureautomarket.co.za with your order number.
Do not fit, clean, paint or test-install the part before you are satisfied it is what you ordered, because an altered part can no longer be returned.
How does the return itself work?
Once a claim is agreed, the vendor supplies the return address or locker details. You must send the part back within 72 hours, in the condition you received it, by a tracked courier, and share the tracking number through the platform. The funds stay in escrow until tracking shows the part is back with the vendor, who then has 48 hours to confirm. After that, TradeSafe refunds you.
Who pays for the return shipping?
If the part was not as described, defective in an undisclosed way, or a prohibited listing, the vendor bears the return cost. If the return is a matter of preference, or a cooling-off return from a business vendor, you pay the direct cost of sending it back.
What is refunded, and how long does it take?
The part price, the delivery charge and the Buyer Protection Fee you paid at checkout. TradeSafe’s payment-processing fee may not be refundable depending on the payment method. Refunds are processed by TradeSafe to your original payment method or TradeSafe wallet, typically within 1 to 3 business days of processing; card refunds can take longer to reflect.
Can I cancel an order?
Once paid, the sale is binding. Before dispatch, you can ask the vendor to cancel by messaging them from the order; if they agree, you are refunded in full. A vendor is not obliged to agree, and an order cannot be cancelled once it has been dispatched.
I bought from a dealer or scrapyard. Do I have extra rights?
Yes. If the vendor sells in the ordinary course of business, the Consumer Protection Act and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act give you rights that our policy cannot take away, including a cooling-off right on online purchases. Those rights are owed by the vendor; section 9 of the Refunds and Returns Policy explains how to exercise them.
Should I do a card chargeback?
Please don’t for an order that has been delivered or that you have accepted. Chargebacks bypass the escrow process, are handled under the Terms, and can lead to account suspension. Raise a claim through the platform instead; it is faster and the money is already protected.
Selling on Secure Auto Market
How do I become a vendor?
Click Start Selling and complete the vendor registration. Once your store is created you can list parts immediately. You will be asked for your payout details (handled by TradeSafe) and your default PUDO drop-off locker.
What does it cost to sell?
Nothing. There is no listing fee and no commission: you receive the full listed price of every part you sell. The buyer pays the delivery fee and the Buyer Protection Fee on top.
How does shipping work for vendors?
When a buyer pays, we automatically book a PUDO shipment and e-mail you a waybill number and a drop-off PIN. Pack the part, take it to any PUDO locker, enter the PIN, and the locker takes it from there. No courier account, no collections, no printing required. Everything is explained in the Vendor Shipping Guide.
Do I need to print a waybill or label?
No. For locker drop-offs the locker identifies your parcel by the PIN, and The Courier Guy attaches its own label. You can print one from the order if you prefer.
What if a part is too big for a locker?
On the product, tick “Too large for a PUDO locker — I will arrange delivery for this item” and enter your delivery fee. When it sells, ship it with your own courier, then enter the courier and tracking number on the order and mark it dispatched.
When and how do I get paid?
Funds are held by TradeSafe until the buyer accepts the part, or the 24-hour inspection window passes after delivery. TradeSafe then releases the money to you. Enter your payout details under Dashboard → Settings → Payment and use Withdraw to move released funds to your bank account.
What are my obligations as a vendor?
- Describe every part honestly and photograph the actual part being sold.
- Dispatch within 7 calendar days of the order, using the delivery option the buyer chose.
- Reply to buyer messages and to any claim promptly.
- If you sell in the ordinary course of business, honour the consumer-law rights that apply to your buyers.
- Never ask a buyer to pay outside the platform, and never list counterfeit, stolen or prohibited items.
A buyer raised a claim against me. What happens?
The funds stay in escrow while the claim is resolved. Respond through the platform with your evidence (listing photos, packaging photos, drop-off record). If a return is agreed, the buyer sends the part back by tracked courier and you have 48 hours after receiving it to confirm. If you dispute the claim, section 11 of the Refunds and Returns Policy applies.
Account & safety
I can’t log in or forgot my password
Use the Lost your password? link on the My Account page. If the reset e-mail does not arrive within a few minutes, check your spam folder, then contact support from the same e-mail address you registered with.
How do I contact a vendor?
Every listing and every order has a Contact vendor option. Keep all conversation on the platform; it is the record we rely on if there is ever a dispute.

Only to run the marketplace: processing orders, delivery, escrow payments and support. Your delivery details are shared with the vendor and The Courier Guy only as needed to deliver your order. See our Privacy Policy.
How do I spot and report a scam?
Warning signs: a vendor or “buyer” asking to pay or communicate outside the platform, prices far below market, pressure to act quickly, or requests for your login details. We will never ask for your password. Report anything suspicious to support with the listing or order number, and we will investigate.
How do I delete my account?
E-mail support@secureautomarket.co.za from your registered address. Open orders must be completed first, and we keep transaction records for the period required by law.
